Coach Development Workshop
- A Guide to Mentoring Coaches
It is important that we are able to support the development
of coaches/physical activity instructors in Devon, especially
those that have only recently undertaken coaching qualifications.
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about coaching
and want to refresh or develop new mentoring skills.
Mentoring is a rewarding experience, both for the mentor
and the coach/instructor they are working with. This nationally
accredited workshop aims to support the role of the mentor
by:
- developing key coaching related skills such as questioning,
listening, analysing and providing feedback
- reviewing the coach's/instructor's own coaching beliefs
and practice
- developing their sport or club environment by bringing through
new coaches/instructors

In order for the workshop to run, we need a minimum of 10
bookings, so a quick return of the Booking Form and payment
would be very much appreciated. If you know of any other Coaches
who would be interested in attending this workshop, please
feel free to forward them my email.
We are planning to run another Guide to Mentoring Coaches
Workshop in partnership with Plymouth City Council in the
Spring. Further details will be released shortly.
England Athletics - Leadership
In Running Fitness Course
New course date Sunday 23 October & Sunday 12th February
to be held at Exeter University.

form, send with a passport photograph to the Birmingham
address on the booking form, the cost of the course is £90.

Please Note All England Athletics leaders and coaches are
required to have a CRB check done through UK Athletics Welfare
Department. This still needs to be done even if individuals
already hold a CRB in their job or other sports coaching roles.
The CRB will hold up the licence being issued.
Guidance
information for leaders who have registered on the course
to use to start the process, it’s a simple phonecall
to CRB quoting the number on the guidance.
FIRST
AID COURSE FOR SPORT
Sunday 25th September at Tavistock College.
This course is the fully HSE accredited course so can be
used for your place of work etc. It will just be taught with
a sports twist!
The course is at a very discounted rate of just £50.00
per person if you coach or volunteer within West Devon.

TO MYSELF.

are just 12 places now left
If you are looking to send several coaches on this course
you can apply to the WDBC sports grants scheme which can cover
30% of the total costs. Applications must be in as soon as
possible though as time is tight.
